At night, the lights along the lake reflect beautifully on the water, creating a picturesque scene. Street performers add to the atmosphere, making the area feel both romantic and free-spirited.
Houhai Bar Street not only features a wide variety of bars but also includes many venues with an old Beijing charm, such as “Beihai Folk,” “Houhai No. 5,” “Yinhai Xuan,” and “Yuejie.” The decor and drinks at these places are rich in traditional Beijing style. Additionally, the resident singers here are a major highlight; many Chinese stars got their start performing at these venues, earning Houhai Bar Street a reputation as a “birthplace of grassroots celebrities.”
